ENERGY AUDITOR
Direct Install Programs (Small Business & Municipal) – Energy Specialist This position is a contractor position in a large NJ based Utility. Primary responsibilities will include; support the Energy Efficiency group in the implementation of small business and municipal programs. This position requires advanced knowledge of energy using systems used in small industrial and commercial facilities. The ideal candidate needs to be knowledgeable of industrial and commercial energy savings measures, knowledgeable of new and current technologies and trends.
The Small Business & Municipal program measures include the installation of, but are not limited to, lighting upgrades, insulation, refrigeration and HVAC upgrades. Must be knowledgeable of commercial lighting systems.
Typical Responsibilities
This position will conduct site audits and perform activities related to the lighting and non-lighting energy audits of commercial, institutional and industrial facilities in the field. The position will be required to perform energy audits with respect to lighting and non-lighting that will include, but not limited to; equipment inventory, fixture counts, photos, measurements, identification of various types of fixtures, lamps, ballasts, and ceiling types. The site audits will be performed with standardized methods and formats that will require revision tracking, review with manager, customer and vendors will be required
Typical responsibilities will also include: reviewing existing facilities project documents to identify energy related enhancements for buildings and processes, quantifying the resulting energy and economic impact, and preparing formal correspondence. Evaluating energy-related alternatives, and assisting in the delivery of Energy Efficiency programs; researching technical solutions for complex issues at the customer facility; assisting with customer care issues such as billing inquiries, planning concerns, and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Minimum 3-5 years electrical distribution, contracting, lighting and/or energy auditing experience. Bachelors or Associate degree in technical discipline preferred or equivalent experience. General construction industry knowledge, electrical and/or lighting focus preferred. Working knowledge of basic electrical wiring and installation, HID and fluorescent lamps and ballasts and ability to learn lighting fixture features and functionality. Advanced computer knowledge – to include the ability to navigate through Microsoft Word and Excel applications and the internet. Ability to read, interpret and sketch architectural based electrical and basic building drawings. Self-motivated individual able to work and function independently. Creative thinking, solutions oriented; strong customer focus, interaction communication and organization skills. Ability to utilize ladders to review existing site conditions and gather required information to perform job. Ability to travel as needed up to 85% and work off hours depending upon customer granted access to sites. Learn lighting products, schemes, controls systems, etc that are typical for related projects. Derive and maintain audit report tracking, reporting and archival process. This position will require a valid driver’s license.
