Candidate responsible for tracking electrical equipment and miscellaneous material required to build 500 kV thru 4 kV Substations & Switching Stations for electric transmission and distribution system.
The overall responsibilities of the material expediter position include the tracking, material management coordination and documentation of procured materials in support of project engineers. Primary interfaces are with project engineers, construction supervisors, suppliers and warehouse associates to assure on-time material availability.
• Support engineers by facilitating delivery of miscellaneous material such as control cables, test switches, protective relays, relay racks, lighting fixtures, connectors, etc.
• Utilize SAP R/3 modules to run reports facilitating material management updates such as purchase order status, inventory management, vendor addresses, and Work Breakdown Structures.
• Confirm receipt and obtain scheduled delivery dates from vendors and notify project engineers on backordered or delayed items. Expedite lead times with vendors, distributors and manufacture representatives in order to meet construction and outage dates. Secure tracking POD’s, bills of lading, delivery tickets and invoices as required. Monitor material availability and coordinate delivery and logistics with construction supervisors.
• Resolve purchasing and material management discrepancies and technical issues between vendors, procurement, engineers and project management.
Essential – Candidate is required to have B.S Degree or equivalent experience in the electrical industry. Effective communication & interpersonal skills. Microsoft Excel & Access (to develop material tracking and scheduling spreadsheets). Must have valid driver’s license.
Desired – Familiarity with SAP R/3.
Familiarity with electrical material used for the electrical substations e.g. Relay Panels, Protective Relays, Potential & Current Transformers, Connectors, Lighting Fixtures, Breakers, Cables, Switches and other misc. items. Ability to read and understand substation drawings.
